Swim Noodles

Swim noodles, also referred to as water woggles, are simply an amazing invention. Swim noodles are a circular piece of polystyrene that has been extruded six feet long and that is totally unsinkable. Swim noodles, or swimming woggles, may be used for children to play with in the pool, to lean on and kick their way up and then down the pool, and just simply to have a little fun.

Non-swimmers just learning to swim can use swim noodles to take their first couple of dips within the pool in order to gain confidence within the water. These are must-have items for non-swimmers to have in order to allow them to lay back and just relax within the water. They are also used with aquarobics to exercise the arms by providing resistance when pushed down into the water. Straight swim noodles can be tied into a knot and once they are undone, they will form a perfect "U" shape that can be wrapped around a swimmer's body for better support.

Now that you know what swim noodles are, it's time to learn how to use them in the swimming pool. Swim noodles are lots of fun and inexpensive...if you look online, they typically cost around three dollars each, in addition to shipping charges. However, you most likely will be able to find them at your local dollar store for less than two dollars. Here are a couple of ways to use swim noodles in your pool:

Take a hollow swim noodle and put it up against the water return opening in the pool and just hold it there with one of your hands, and use the other hand to point the swim noodle at other people and spray them with water!

Ride the swim noodles like horses. All you have to do is sit down right in the middle of the swim noodle so that you have one leg on each side. It is a lot of fun to bounce around like this. Based on your size, you may need a little more than just one noodle to hold you up.

Walk around in the pool with a noodle under each one of your feet. To do this, hold the noodle right in the middle and then push it down until you are able to get your foot on it, then you are going to do the same thing with another noodle for your other foot, and then you may walk around in the swimming pool.

Waist exercises, leg stretches, arm exercises, and leg exercises are also commonly performed with the use of swim noodles. There are such a wide variety of fun uses for such a simple and inexpensive toy, that you can probably afford to purchase several swim noodles for yourself and all your pool guests to enjoy all summer long!
